MH showcase the latest Energy Monitoring & PQ Solutions @ BEX Asia 2015
The Janitza UMG512/UMG509/UMG20CM, Sinexcel AHF/SVG and Ordek flexible platform software were launched during the Building Eco Xpo (BEX) Asia 2015 in Singapore. Over 12,000 visitors from the building industry attended the exhibition held at the Marina Bay Sands over the 3-day event. Participants came from a variety of industries, from mechanical and electrical engineering, property development, construction and architectural firms. The key focus of the event was on energy efficiency and green building.
Janitza PQM Showcase
Janitza latest UMG 20CM is a multi-circuit meter that monitors densely populated appliances such as Data Center Rack Servers. The UMG 20CM can be configured to monitor Residual Current condition or kWh energy consumption. One unit of Janitza UMG 20CM can monitor up to 20 sets of single phase current circuit (PDU). The UMG 512 delivers Utility Grade Class A power quality analysis and satisfies the most stringent plant energy management requirement. It can detect and record micro fault events down to 39us. The UMG 509, also showcased at the BEX, serves as a master analyser for sub distributor board with integrated Residual Current Monitoring function. The GridVis power quality analysis software is used to process the data from the UMG devices based on industrial standard EN50160, IEEE519 and IEC61000-2-4.
Sinexcel AHF Showcase
The Sinexcel AHF 025 wall mount compact module and the SVG100 rackmount module were displayed as the centre-piece in the show. The Sinexcel Active Harmonics Filter (AHF) operates with advanced Digital Signal Processing feedback control algorithm to calculate compensation waveform and use IGBT bridge circuit to inject an equal but opposite phase current into the network, neutralizing harmonics at the point of injection. Static Var Generator (SVG) provides near instantaneous compensation of power factor correction in both leading and lagging PF condition, maintaining a consistent PF in less than 15ms. SVG utilizes IGBT bridge circuit to inject current with controlled phase shifting function. By varying this phase shift, the SVG accomplished the effect of a leading or lagging PF compensator.
Ordek Building Management Solutions Showcase
A comprehensive energy management program requires an assessment of a large amount of data. Ordek is a robust software service with a user-friendly interface that can manage a large amount of information and perform systematic check on key parameters. Ordek also supports non-technical functions such as user self-service administration and live screen through a customizable web graphical interface and reporting formats. The purpose-built software is able to interface with leading industrial protocol at native software driver level. This removes the need for physical hardware protocol converters and reduces network cost and latency. Some of the native industrial protocols supported include Modbus, BACnet, LONworks, ProfiBus, IEC61850 and OPC. Database access can be made via MySQL, MS-SQL and Oracle. High availability system architecture is built into the platform with support for HA-redundancy server architecture.
During the BEXasia 2015, Mun Hean was featured in the GreenView technical seminar. Power Quality Specialist, Mr Chee Khar Chit, delivered a talk on the subject of ‘Solving Harmonics and Power Quality Issues in Modern Building’. The talk addressed the increasingly prominent topic about the damage caused and costs incurred by businesses over the disruption of electrical supply. Latest development in continuous monitoring and IGBT circuit technology have brought about a viable solution in solving these challenges.
The Mun Hean showcase was also featured in the trade magazine ‘Southeast Asia Building – Jul/Aug2015’ issue. The magazine is a bi-monthly issue, targeting building design, architecture and engineering consultant in the Asia region.
