MH Power Myanmar Co., Ltd and Mun Hean Singapore Pte Ltd organised a seminar on “Protection Relays and Protection CT for Industrial Electrical Solutions” at Myanmar Engineering Society in Yangon on 16th January 2016. More than 40 participants comprising of M&E consultants, engineers, facilities managers, switchboard maker, contractors, developers and authorities attended this half day seminar. Ir. Voon Yip Seng, Power Quality Specialist of Mun Hean Singapore Pte Ltd was the speaker for this seminar.

Mr. Aung Bo Bo, Assistant General Manager of MH Power Myanmar Co., Ltd. started the event by introducing Mun Hean Group’s company profile, product and shared some of the major project references of Mun Hean Group to all the participants.

Following the company introduction, Ir. Voon presented the solution of protection relay and protection CT for industrial electrical. The topic which covered during the seminar are as per below:

1) history and application of protection relay,
2) legacy and type of MH protection relay,
3) importance of protection relay coordination,
4) case studies,
5) testing requirement of protection relay,
6) unique features of MH protection relay,
7) type of protection relay’s tripping curve,
8) selection of protection relay,
9) good practice of protection relay installation,
10) protection relay setting guideline,
11) application and selection of protection current transformer.

A question and answer session was conducted at the end presentation where the participants have raised the question about the protection relay to Ir. Voon.

Ir. Voon was previously a Design Engineer for power generation division in a multinational corporate. Prior to that, he worked as an Electrical Engineer with a large consultancy firm and also as a Field Engineer in an electrical testing company. Ir. Voon graduated with a First Class Honours in Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronics) and also holds a Master of Science (Power Engineering). He is currently a Professional Engineer with Board of Engineers Malaysia, and also is a corporate member of the Institute of Engineers Malaysia.
