“Protection Relay Seminar – Protection Relays for Industrial Electrical Solutions” was held at JKR, Public Works Department of Malaysia this quarter of 2016. Mun Hean Malaysia Sdn Bhd conducted the seminar, which took place at JKR Head Office in Kuala Lumpur.

The seminar was spearheaded by Mr Chong SL from Mun Hean Malaysia who introduced Mun Hean background and product portfolio. Subsequently our Power Quality Specialist from Mun Hean Singapore Pte Ltd – Ir. Voon Yip Seng presented the topics on MH Protection Relay to JKR participants. 35 JKR electrical engineers from various departments attended the seminar.

The seminar topics covered the evolution of protection relay technology from traditional mechanical disc type to microprocessor based and the functionality of the protection relays in the market. In the latter part of the seminar, the speakers talked about how protection relays should be integrated in project schematics. Case studies were used to illustrate the selection of protection relays and covering the correct tripping curve selection to achieve tripping curve discrimination.

The seminar received an encouraging response and valuable feedback from the participants at JKR. We thank all speakers and participants for making the seminar a success.
