A New Level of Power Quality at Canberra MRT Station
SINGAPORE – The new Canberra MRT station on the North-South Line will be opening on November 2, as announced by the Minister for Transport, Khaw Boon Wan, in May 2019. The station has several ‘firsts’ – in design theme, glass-façade, and especially, in electrical system.
Canberra MRT station will be the first of its kind to be installed with Active Harmonic Filters. 3 sets of Sinexcel Harmonic filters at 25A, 35A and 50A have been designed and installed by Mun Hean’s PQ team. The filters will mitigate harmonics in the electrical system, which in turn prolong the lifespan of equipment, such as power cables, motors and transformers at the station. By improving the overall power quality, losses in the system is reduced and efficiency is improved. The Active Harmonic Filters also acts as a shield to prevent electronic malfunction caused by harmonics.
