Power Quality Seminar @ Institute of Engineers Singapore
Mun Hean was honoured to deliver a Power Quality Seminar at Institute of Engineers Singapore on 20 June 2017 at the IES Auditorium. Over 70 participants from registered Professional Engineers and Project Management Engineers attended the event. 2PDU and 2STU points were awarded to participants’ as part of their Continuing Professional Development engagement. Mr Chee Khar Chit (Product Development Manager) of Mun Hean Singapore Pte Ltd delivered the 2-hour seminar with the assistance from the Marketing and Technical Support Division from Mun Hean.
The focus of the seminar was on Power Quality in modern electrical facilities:
• Janitza Power Quality Management Solution
• Sinexcel Power Quality Compensation Solution
At the mini workshop corner, we showcased the following products application:
• Janitza UMG 509/ 96RM-E/ 20CM – Early warning with Residual Current Monitoring
• Janitza GridVis Ultimate – Power Quality Management software
• Sinexcel AHF/ SVG Active – PQ compensation on harmonics/ power factor
• Helita Pulsar ESE – Wide Area lightning protection with ESE
The objective of the seminar was to share latest development in the electrical power quality industry and relevant case studies. We started the talk with a refresher on harmonics and voltage disturbance, followed by the assessment methodology in harmonics measurement and the governing industry standards as well as Singapore EMA code of practise.
Next we shared the case studies of datacentre operation and reviewed the application of advanced predictive management tools using Residual Current Monitoring and post event Transient Waveform analysis to meet the stringent requirement in the critical plant operation needs.
We reviewed the state-of-the-art power quality compensation solution using IGBT power electronics platform. We shared the nature of operation and their effectiveness in providing autonomous and fail safe operation in solving harmonics, power factor and voltage stability issues.
The event concluded with a lucky prize draw for the participants and a token of appreciation presented by IES Past President Er. Ong Ser Huan to Mun Hean.
